Seeking Alpha Policy for Disputing an Article
-
Font Size:
Seeking Alpha's overarching editorial approach is to interfere as little as possible with contributors' articles. Our editorial team will, however (a) provide copy editing to improve clarity, consistent with the author's intentions, (b) correct material inaccuracies, (c) act to prevent stock manipulation, and (d) prevent the use of Seeking Alpha to promote illegal or abusive material, as per our terms of use.
If you have concerns regarding the accuracy of an article published on Seeking Alpha, or believe an article otherwise violates our terms of use, please email contact-editorial [at] seekingalpha.com, stating:
1) The article's headline, date of publication and URL (web link);
2) Your own full name and phone number; and
3) The precise concern you have regarding the article - quote the section(s) you dispute, and support your own position with specific sources. Include a URL for your sources, if one exists.
Article Dispute Process
If our editorial team determines that the article contained a factual error, we will either make the correction ourselves or (if warranted) remove the article entirely.
If our editorial team determines that the dispute is either (1) a matter of interpretation of the facts, or (2) beyond the scope of our editorial team's research capacities, we will take the following steps:
1) Temporarily remove the article and indicate the reason on the article page;
2) Forward the disputant's query to the author (removing the name and email of the disputant), and request either a corrected version of the article or a statement that the author sees no need for a correction;
3) Request from the disputant a response to the disputed article, to be published on Seeking Alpha;
4) Upon receiving the response from the author, republish the disputed article (in corrected form, if that's the case), with a prominent, bold link at the very top pointing to the disputant's response - which is published at the same time. If the disputant chooses not not submit a publishable response, we will (at our discretion) include a statement at the top of the republished article, indicating that its accuracy has been disputed.
Note to companies: We welcome responses from publicly-traded corporations to articles about their stock, and will always consider them for publication with the same prominence as the article they are responding to.
Seeking Alpha Hyperlink Policy
I. Landing pages for hyperlinks
a) Landing pages must be pertinent to topics addressed in the article - either (1) as a citation, or (2) to add relevant context to the article.
b) Landing pages may not contain racist or defamatory material, where 'racist' and 'defamatory' are defined by legal precedent.
II. Anchor text for hyperlinks
To maintain high editorial standards and prevent use of Seeking Alpha for 'keyword squatting,' anchor text for hyperlinks must have clear relevance to the landing page and the landing page must add significant meaning to the sentence which contains the link. Authors do, however, have the discretion to use anchor text in a creative manner to add an additional layer of meaning to the writing.
Copyright or Trademark protection for a term or company name do not constitute grounds for limiting its use in anchor text that points to landing pages other than that of the holder of the Copyright or Trademark.
