Paul attended the University of Western Ontario, where he graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts, while Korin went on to study Political Science and Philosophy at Carleton University. They rejoined as a partnership at a small brokerage firm specializing in high technology and special situations in 1993, and moved together to Midland Walwyn in 1996, staying together through mergers and sales of predecessor firms to CIBC Wood Gundy, where they managed a book of approximately $300 million.
