By the way, whenever you think a post is missing something, you can just click over to PSW, where any post that is up on SA is available for free viewing on our site as well (but not all of our free posts are on SA, so it's always good to check out our site). SA does not include videos and certain images for reasons I'm not quite sure of.

Thanks Hans but this site edited the last sentence of my post where all I said was: "... so the bull will be flying – even if the markets are not!" I can't imagine why they did that but it's strange things like that which turn this site into the same generic drivel we get everywhere else on the web (except PSW, of course).

Great article by Barry Ritholtz on Fox and the WSJ:

    www.ritholtz.com/blog/.../

Great point at the end of that article (and one I’ve been making for years):

In the US, Murdoch’s Fox News has coarsened the political process and LITERALLY made the American public dumber. Fox News viewers consistently rank amongst the least knowledgeable, worst informed people when it comes to the FACTS about the issues of the day. Over the short run, it has been a cynical yet highly profitable infotainment machine, but ultimately, highly destructive to our body polity.

You cannot have a functional Democracy without a vigorous press and a well informed electorate. Here’s to hoping that the net effect of the unfolding scandal is a more aggressive press run by Journalists, and fewer media barons mucking up the process.

IMAX - bad math, it was just 7%. It was a no trade anyway as the calls dropped way down in value this morning. I suppose the pre-movie excitement had them in a slightly higher premium.

It is possible (and I'm the suspicious type) that the insiders wanted to take a $8 cash deal that was very unpalitable to the shareholders - until now!

I'm a buyer at $4.50 based on the fundamentals of the business and my total distrust of the timing of this "scandal."

What better way to turn angry shareholders who would have blocked a low buyout into relieved sharholders who praise you for finding a buyer for this turkey?

For the executive team, there is cash on their low basis shares and options plus continued employment at Sony (oops - forget I said that) with additonal options and incentives going forward. For the common shareholder, a 20%+ haircut off the 2 year average.

The insiders only hold 11% of this company, not enough to push a deal through and not enough to make them rich this decade waiting for the stock to appreciate without dillutive and risky financing so a sale to a studio or theater chain is a must. They couldn't have gotten a better situation to pull it off than if they had somehow made it happen...
