Has Research In Motion Become A Bargain? [View article]
The funny thing is that if apple actually considered RIMM with BB10 a real threat, it could buy it with the profits made in a single month. Problem solved. RIMM is scraps left on the dining table.

It seems a bunch of RIMM investors think that they have it right and have been buying on this downward trajectory. At some point, you've got to admit that you've had it wrong and cut your losses.
Try depositing a check using a website. Many banks now have Apps that allow you to take pictures of the check and deposit it electronically into your account. Also, there are many Apps that a superior to the websites like Kayak and The Weather Channel as obvious examples. Just because you can't see the utility of Apps, don't make the mistake of discounting their obvious popularity.
"Even Research In Motion's board members have fully acknowledged the company's plight. Famous Canadian investor Prem Watsa, who is now on Research In Motion's board of directors and one of the company's largest shareholders, recently had this to say:
Is it going to turn around in three months, six months, nine months? No. Three years or five years is how I'm looking at it. But there's no guarantees. You've seen all the earnings from Apple. It's not easy to compete with Apple or Samsung or the Android group of companies."
So one of the largest shareholders and board member says he's not expecting a turnaround for at least 3 years and this does not concern RIM investors? I have better places to place my money for 3-5 years. RIM heading to $11 today.
I agree with everything but wouldn't put so much importance into the cool factor. I think what differentiates Apple from all its competitors is the software. I think Samsung's position as a leader in android smartphone sales is much more tenuous because anybody could come up with a product that is identical or better than what they have now. It would be the end of Apple if they licensed iOS to everyone so they would have to compete on only the hardware. If this was the case and Apple continue to succeed, then you can attribute it mostly, or all of it, to the cool factor.
28 Big Reasons Apple Will Fall: A Rebuttal [View article]
I used to get a knot in my stomach with 80 point dips but didn't even break a sweat this time. After successfully trading Apple since 2007 I've learned that these dips have made me a ton of money because I've bought into them. My last 2 trades, sell at 632, buy back at 560. Now I'm going to sit back and enjoy this ride up, until the next earnings.
I remember cNBC had a fund manager on right after Apple announced their last earnings. They asked if Apple was a buy at $450 where it spiked to after hours. He said no. Uh-oh. And these guys are professionals?
Let's see.... it took AAPL from 2007 to 2012, five years to gain about $250 in share price. It basically took about 4 months for AAPL to gain anther $250.
"But Android is so much better and will eat iPhone's lunch. Apple's walled garden will fail. The competition will catch up." The funny thing is, they are still using the same arguments today that this guy used in 2010.
"Where will the next $400B in market cap come from," asks Gene Munster to himself as his $1K price target call on Apple (AAPL) by 2014 implies a $1T valuation. Half will come out of the hides of the firm's "most relevant" competitors as Apple takes market share and the other half from increased investment in tech companies, of which Apple should continue to get a sizable chunk. @Charles18
Given Apple hitting new highs today and up almost $250 in 2012, Gene Muster appears to know his stuff. Unlike Zabitsky who is famous for calling for a sell and a $270 price target.

Palm had high hopes for the Pre and WebOS. Can't help but believe that BB10 will have the same impact when finally released.
BB7 had disaster written all over it before it was launched. Major mistep was announcing that BB10 would be coming but in the meantime, we'll give you BB7 phones to tide you over.

So there is an obvious disconnect with your opinion about these phones and the consumer market's desire for these phones.
